Everwatch
Built to Last, Designed to Stay
overview
Purpose and introduction
The Everwatch smartwatch is built for longevity. It features an e-ink display with intentional, minimal interactions. The creator commissioned me to design an intuitive, elevated display for their upcoming product release.

Refining the Original Design
I was given the prototype for the Everwatch. The original design was functional, but was criticized for lacking clarity and user intuition.
The design made the minimalistic watch feel a lot more complicated than it was.

Challenge and Process
The challenge of this project was to make the navigation feel natural and intentional, without the added interactions that can be implemented on a website or app. The watch only has two buttons, so the design had to be as intuitive as possible.
This project was built in Figma, a software I'm very familiar with. The process for this was different than most. Instead of thinking about colorways and small details, I had to focus intently on functionality and the dimensions of the watch display.

Growth and Insights
This project reminded me that minimalist is harder than it seems. Adding features and interactions is always easy, but keeping a concise interface requires a lot of critical, detailed thought. I learned to appreciate this project because it forced me to prioritize user experience over intricate design.
Final Prototype
I created a functional and high-fidelity prototype to present to my client, which you can try below. The prototype is seamless and the experience is much more satisfying than the original. (The original prototype is not very functional, so expect glitches).
